Classroom Building Project

Thank you to Phillip Smith for this image of a crane lifting steel to the first floor of our new classroom building project earlier this year.

21st October

After some delays, the demolition of the old multipurpose building is complete.  The main building looks so different now it can be seen as a single entity without other buildings close by.
Works will commence next week to install the services for the building, water, gas, electricity and data cabling.

In August 2009, Minister for Education and Member for Melbourne, Bronwyn Pike announced to the Flemington PS community that she had approved a building project for our schol.  This project was to enable the construction of 8 classrooms to replace the many portable classrooms which students were housed in.  This followed many years of lobbying by our School Council.

These plans came to fruition when Peter Maddison & Associates, architects for the Bastow Institute, were appointed to our project in March.  The plans were submitted to School Council after many meetings and the documents were released for tender in early August.  The tender was awarded to Contract Control Services, a large construction compaqny based in Kensington, who took control of the site during the September holidays.

Due to delays with weather, building permits and access constraints, works did not commence until this week, but now the demolition of the old multipurpose building has commenced.
