All School Councils in Victoria operate under the Education and Training Reform Act 2006. Each School Council is established by an Order of the Minister for Education, which specifies the Council’s membership, size and configuration, its objectives, powers, functions and accountabilities and the role of its executive officer who is the principal. The School Council has particular functions in setting and monitoring the school’s direction.
School Councils have three main responsibilities:
Other key functions of School Councils include:
Our sub-committees and working parties assist Council to complete the work that needs to be done. They report regularly at School Council, provide assistance and make recommendations to school council.

Marisa Frisina

Hello, Flemington Primary School community! My name is Marisa Frisina, and I’m excited to be joining FPS as your new Assistant Principal. With 20 years of experience in education as a classroom teacher and leader in numeracy and disability inclusion, I am passionate about creating supportive and engaging learning environments for all students. I have lived in the Moonee Valley area for over 15 years and love being part of this vibrant community, especially exploring the endless selection of local cafes! In my spare time, you will find me out walking my Kelpie x Staffy, Jello, or cheering on the Brisbane Lions on the weekend. I look forward to getting to know you and your children and working together to make FPS the best it can be! |

Harry Strouzas

Hello FPS, My name is Harry Strouzas and I’m the school’s Business Manager. I love Flemington Primary and find it a joy to come to work each day. This school is special and is full of great people - from staff parents, families and of course the students! I can honestly say that this place, and my role within it, is never boring and there is always something important going on. This is one of the reasons why I enjoy it so much. I have a son (Alex) in year 8 and a daughter (Steph) in grade 6. We hang out together lots, especially playing various sports and cooking. We also like watching old fashioned BBC murder mysteries together. I have lots of other interests too. If you swing by and say hello, I’ll go out of my way to make you a nice coffee. I do this most days. Good coffee, wearing hats and using quality pens – these are the important things in life. Add to this, having School Council meetings that finish on time and all is good! |

Hello FPS community, I’m Ken, a proud FPS parent. My son Jasper started Foundation this year, and our family is excited to be part of the school. We live locally and like many of you, we care about creating a positive and supportive environment for all our kids. Our family loves movies, board games, kid‑friendly festivals and concerts, delicious food (very important!), and keeping up with the trends Jasper brings home. Looking forward to meeting more families and supporting our school community together. |
