Welcome to Term 2! I hope that all families had an opportunity to recharge their batteries and that all children are ready for a full term of learning. Here is an overview of the activities that are ahead for us and no doubt more exciting things will eventuate as they normally do at FPS.
Lots of learning happening in classrooms this term
An overview of all learning will be sent home to all families next week in our termly Curriculum Overviews. Curriculum Overviews can also be found displayed in our administration corridor and on our website under ”Curriculum”. If you have any questions regarding your child’s learning, please do not hesitate to contact your child’s teacher. Parents/carers will also receive a Semester One school report at the end of this term as well as participating in 3 Way Conferences with your child and their teacher.
Thank you to all the parents and carers who attended the training. We trained over 30 volunteers who will support Reading in our classrooms. This program begins next Monday and timetables have now been finalised. If you missed out on the training but still want to be involved with your child’s class, please nominate to be a helper with excursions or help out with our many Parents & Carers activities.
ANZAC Day-25th April
This Sunday is ANZAC Day. FPS School Captains will be attending a special ceremony at Mount Alexander College next week and FPS will also hold a special assembly this Friday. All parents and carers are welcome at this event that commences at 3.10pm in the school hall.
Creative Arts Worker to commence at FPS
We are so excited to announce that FPS was successful in a submission for a Performing Artist to work at FPS. Briony Farrell will be joining the FPS teaching team. Briony is a graduate of the Royal Central School of Speech and Drama in London plus a Graduate of the VCA, Bachelor of Fine Arts (Theatre Practice). Briony will support classes as they prepare for our Term 3 Whole School Performance to be held on Wednesday 15th September. There will be a matinee and an evening concert. Please put this date in your calendar NOW.
Curriculum Day No.3
Teachers commenced the term with our third curriculum day focusing on applying the learnings of Dr Misty Adoniou around writing pedagogy. Teachers deepened their understanding of “Scaffolding Literacy” and have now planned for the first implementation of this pedagogy starting this term for all year levels. The strength of the Scaffolding Literacy pedagogy is that it supports not just writing, but also reading, spelling and grammar. We look forward to sharing our students’ writing with you throughout this term. Please note the final curriculum day for FPS in 2021 is the first day of Term 3 - Monday 12th of July.
2022 Foundation Tours and Enrolments Commence
Foundation Tours for 2022 enrolments commence next Wednesday 28th April at 9.15am. Already we have received a significant amount of interest in enrolments for next year and tour bookings are filling fast.
