Recumbent Bike

The Recumbent Bike program is one component of the RACV Energy Challenge for schools. This challenge involves Grade 6 students travelling to Maryborough for 3 days and riding for several hours, usually in very hot weather, around a circuit. They are involved in designing, building, trialling and trying-out for the challenge. Students are also involved as pit crew, mechanics and timers/scorers. Students need to be very fit and of an appropriate height to fit in the seat and reach the pedals. The 2007 Team comprised: Alice Doyle, Amelia Radford, Annie Girdwood, Jasmine Romanin, Laura Phillips, Lea Dionysou, Nell Campbell, Alex Spencer, Colin Watson, Daniel Comande, Harry Isherwood, Jacob Mason, Lachlan Powell, Reilly O’Brien, Sasha Karovich Wynne, Tristan Davies, Tom McConville and Will Isaacs. |

| Robotics | The Robotics program involves teams of students designing, building, testing and then writing computer programs to direct a robot. Materials used a based on Lego with a "brain" box as a base. | |
Solar Boat |
Six teams of students enjoyed an exciting day racing their solar powered boats at Scienceworks. Congratulations to the team of Hayden Grayson, Lukas Thapa Howard and Sam Hilary Carpetis to made it into the quarter finals. Thanks to Bruce Ziebell, Sandra McOrist and Nicola Dziakiewicz who assited students throughout the challenge and supported teams on the day. |
The Solar Boat program is one component of the RACV Energy Challenge for schools. It is held at Scienceworks on a Saturday morning and is usually offered to teams of students in Grades 3-4. This activity involves students in designing, building, testing, modifying and racing a boat powered by solar panels. |
